Our vet physiotherapy service is based at:
Physiotherapy is a type of veterinary treatment that's dedicated to helping your pet with their quality of movement and comfort.
It can support these conditions:
To support your pet's recovery after an operation, helping them get their strength and movement back to normal.
To help maintain mobility, muscle strength and comfort.
As part of a wider plan to help manage long-term pain and support comfortable movement.
To aid balance, coordination, strength and movement.
To help pets who are struggling with walking, stairs, jumping, exercise or everyday movement.
To support older pets with mobility, muscle condition and independence.
We can support a range of pets providing the following services:
Supporting dogs recovering from surgery, managing arthritis, experiencing mobility problems or living with other conditions affecting movement.
Supporting mobility, rehabilitation and quality of life, especially for cats affected by arthritis, injury or age-related changes.
Depending on their condition, we can help small pets such as rabbits.

Our physiotherapy appointments usually involve four steps.
We'll review how your pet moves, taking their condition and previous medical issues into account.
We'll use a hands-on approach, including manual therapies such as massage, soft tissue and joint mobilisation, alongside therapeutic exercises tailored to your pet's needs.
Where appropriate, other treatments such as electrotherapy may also be used.
You stay with your pet throughout the appointment. We'll explain what we're doing and show you how you can support their rehabilitation at home.
We'll give you exercises to continue between sessions, helping you stay involved in your pet's progress.

Your pet doesn't disappear behind a door. You stay with them, see what's happening and learn how to help them at home.
We'll show you the exercises your pet needs between sessions.
Every programme is tailored to your pet's condition, lifestyle and individual needs.
We believe that physiotherapy can work alongside our other veterinary services.
Veterinary physiotherapy is a type of therapy that uses physical techniques and exercises to help improve your pet’s mobility and manage pain.
It’s a hands-on approach and techniques can include massage, stretching, joint mobilisations, and controlled exercises such as balance work and strengthening exercises.
Your pet may benefit from physiotherapy if they have a sudden change in movements, their behaviour has changed or they’ve stopped enjoying doing the things they once loved.
They may be displaying signs of stiffness, find getting up more difficult or showing a reluctance to walk.
If they have had surgery, have recently been injured or they’ve just been diagnosed with a condition such as arthritis, physiotherapy may be a type of treatment we would recommend.
Our initial physiotherapy consultation costs £99 for 60 minutes, with follow-up sessions costing £69 for 40 minutes.
We are offering an introductory deal of 10% discount if you book four sessions in October.
Your initial consultation lasts 60 minutes, while follow-up appointments are 40 minutes.
The first appointment includes an assessment of your pet and their individual needs, while follow-up sessions are tailored to their progress.
The number of sessions will be recommended after your pet has been assessed. Treatment is tailored to the individual patient and that session frequency will be adjusted depending on their progress.
Yes, our physiotherapy sessions can only be carried out under veterinary referral. So they will need to be examined and then prescribed physiotherapy before we begin.
If you’re unsure what you need before booking, speak to our team and we’ll be happy to advise.
No. You don’t need to be an existing Natural Vet customer, although your pet will need to have been examined by a veterinary surgeon as required before remedial physiotherapy can take place. The examination does not need to be at The Natural Vet, we will just require a referral from your general practice before we can begin any treatment.
At The Natural Vet we practice a fear-free approach and consent-based treatment.
We’ll work with your pet on an individual basis, and will ensure we do not cause any unnecessary stress.
We also work within your pet’s tolerance levels, so will not carry out any techniques that cause pain.
You’ll be able to stay with your pet throughout their appointment, so you can be there to give them comfort and reassure them.
Yes, physiotherapy can be used as a standalone treatment or can be used in combination with other treatment modalities.
While physiotherapy aims to reduce pain and inflammation, some patients may require conventional pain relief alongside this.
Physiotherapy can be beneficial alongside treatments such as laser therapy and acupuncture.
We don’t currently offer home visits. Our pet physiotherapy service is provided at our veterinary practice in Thornliebank, Glasgow.
This will depend on how your pet has responded to the therapy and what their condition was like beforehand.
We’ve treated some pets that have only needed a short course but others have needed more long term support. We’ll put together your plan and advise on what to do once your sessions have ended.
We will assess your pet at each session to highlight any areas of improvement or concern.
If your pet is not progressing as expected, we may refer them back to their veterinary surgeon to discuss other treatment options or further investigations.
We will also send regular reports to your first opinion vet to keep them updated on the pet’s condition and progress.
